How the Maya Bay and Bamboo Day Works

Pickup, the Phi Phi stops, lunch, then Bamboo Island.

  1. Check your pickup zone

Vans and trucks collect from Ao Nang, Klong Muang, Pak Nam, Nong Thale and the Krabi Town area. Tonsai Bay, Centara Grand and hotels near the airport, bus terminal or Old Town are not covered.

  2. Wait for the pickup email

The operator emails your pickup time; book after 23:00 and it arrives by 07:00 on the day. Railay and Tonsai guests meet the boat at Railay East floating pier.

  3. Maya Bay, Pileh and a snorkel

Through Loh Samah Bay to about 50 minutes at Maya Bay, where swimming is not allowed, then Pileh Lagoon, a snorkel off Phi Phi Leh, and Viking Cave and Monkey Bay from the boat.

  4. Lunch, then an hour on Bamboo

A buffet at Arida Restaurant 2 on Phi Phi Don, then about an hour on Bamboo Island before the run back to Ao Nang. Bring 400 THB cash per adult for the park fee.

Phi Phi and Bamboo Island Days from Krabi Compared

Four lower-cost speedboat days that all end or start on Bamboo Island. The differences are time on the beach, pickup and how full the boat gets.

Choosing

What You Get, and Give Up, for $47

Bamboo Island is on almost every Phi Phi day trip from Krabi, so the question is less which tour goes there than how much time you get and how many people you share the boat with. Sea Eagle Tour’s Phi Phi, Maya Bay & Bamboo Island was $47 per person for 9 November 2026 when we checked, gives you about an hour on Bamboo Island, and has 4.4 from 3,941 reviews, more than any other Phi Phi day trip from Krabi. Add the national park fee, 400 THB per adult and 200 THB per child in cash, which covers Bamboo Island as well as Maya Bay. Our review →

A few Phi Phi listings from Krabi start lower, from $38, but with much smaller review bases. At $47 you are paying about the going rate for the standard day.

What $47 gets you

The Sea Eagle day runs about 7 hours. After Railay pickups at the floating pier, the boat goes to Loh Samah Bay and Maya Bay for about 50 minutes, then Pileh Lagoon (45 minutes, swimming from the boat), a snorkel off Phi Phi Leh (40), and quick passes at Viking Cave and Monkey Bay. Lunch is a halal-friendly buffet at Arida Restaurant 2 near Tonsai pier on Phi Phi Don, and the last hour is on Bamboo Island, with free time to swim and sit on the beach. Snorkel gear, water, fruit and insurance are included.

Bamboo Island is the stop where most people finally get time on a beach. If that hour matters to you, compare it with the 45 minutes on Oh-Hoo’s and Krabi Blue Sky’s routes below.

The trade-off: a big boat

A 4.4 rating on nearly 4,000 reviews means most guests have a good day, and the guides come up again and again in the reviews. The lower reviews describe the same things. Guests count 30 to 40 people aboard, and in October 2026 one wrote that after more guests boarded at Railay, six of them had to sit outside at the front for the whole trip. Others mention waiting at each stop while heads were counted, a 50-minute late start waiting for other passengers, and cabin windows set too high to see the sea. On a rough day the 45 to 60 minute crossing is hard on anyone prone to seasickness.

None of that is unusual for a $47 speedboat, but if a crowded boat would spoil the day for you, the small-group tour at $89 or the early bird tours at $74 to $79 are the next step up. The tour does not take children under 3 or anyone pregnant.

The other $47 and $50 options

Oh-Hoo’s Maya Bay, Bamboo & Phi Phi Islands Day Tour was also $47 and runs about 8 hours, with 45 minutes on Bamboo Island at the end and a longer lunch stop on Phi Phi Don. Pickup is free in Ao Nang and Ao Nam Mao; from Krabi Town, Klong Muang or Tub Kaek it adds THB 100 per person. It has 4.4 from 626 reviews. Our review →

Srisawat’s Phi Phi Speedboat with Buffet Lunch was $47 too, rates a little higher at 4.6 from 1,052 reviews, and adds two snorkel stops on the way out. Its listing does not give a time for Bamboo Island, and it does not take children under 120 cm or anyone over 60. Our review →

Krabi Blue Sky’s Phi Phi Speedboat or Catamaran Day was $50 and goes to Bamboo Island first, for 45 minutes, before Maya Bay and the rest. Starting where the other boats finish can help, though Maya Bay is then later in the morning. A catamaran seat costs $74. It has 4.7 from 64 reviews. Our review →

Which one to book

For the lowest price with the longest track record, book Sea Eagle and go in expecting a full boat. Srisawat’s tour is the one I would pick if the higher rating matters more to you than the hour on Bamboo Island. If you would like to reach Bamboo Island ahead of the boats that finish there, look at Krabi Blue Sky’s reversed route.

Pack water shoes for the boarding in shallow water and sunscreen without oxybenzone or octinoxate, which Thai marine parks ban. Our snorkeling guide compares the snorkel stops, and the which-tour guide sets these budget days against the rest.

"We had the best experience with our guide on boat 1111 throughout the entire cruise we felt very informed she was answering any questions me and my boyfriend had and overhearing other passengers asking questions she was always happy to help, we actually got a bit lost as we were exploring and called her and she helped us out immensely and was a real joy to have guide us on our trip, thank you for the amazing experience!"

GetYourGuide traveler

"The places we visited were really beautiful! The time given per location is enough to enjoy the place and get amazing photos. Lunch provided was not bad too. We went with Khun Sali of Sea eagle #1111. The tour was very organized and well on time. Khun Sali made sure we all understood the plans, especially the return time so there were no issues of having to wait for people."
