How an Ao Nang Pickup Works

Four things to sort out before the morning of the trip.

  1. Pick a start time that suits you

Early-bird tours collect from about 05:50 and are back at the pier by about 16:00. Standard day trips collect between about 08:00 and 09:50. Pick your date to see the time for your tour.

  2. Give your exact hotel name

Pickup is free in Ao Nang on every tour here, but zones differ. If your hotel is up a hill or off the main road, some operators ask you to wait at a nearby hotel.

  3. Watch for the pickup message

Several operators email or message the exact pickup time the day before, or by 07:00 on the day for late bookings. Keep your phone on and be in the lobby early.

  4. Bring cash for the park fee

The national park fee of 400 THB per adult and 200 THB per child is extra on these tours and is paid in cash on the day.

Planning

Piers, Pickup Times and Which Ao Nang Tour to Book

Ao Nang is where most Phi Phi day trips from Krabi begin. The vans collect from Ao Nang hotels for free on every tour on this page, Nopparat Thara pier is about 5 to 10 minutes away by road, and the speedboat crossing to Phi Phi takes about 45 minutes to an hour. If I were booking from Ao Nang, I would start with the Ao Nang Phi Phi speedboat or catamaran tour: $50 per person by speedboat on the dates we checked in early November 2026, 4.7 from 64 reviews, with Bamboo Island first and a $74 catamaran option that has a toilet on board. Nopparat Thara pier or Ao Nang Beach?

Most boats leave from Nopparat Thara pier, at the western end of Nopparat Thara beach just north of Ao Nang town. Guide Kratae’s sunset tour departs from there at 10:00, and Sea Eagle’s private charter checks guests in there before leaving at about 9:00.

The Phi Phi Speedboat Tour with Lunch works differently. You check in at the operator’s office next to Burger King in Ao Nang, and the speedboat leaves straight from Ao Nang Beach. A few operators use their own piers: Oh-Hoo drives guests to the Nang An Travel & Tour pier, and the sunset catamaran uses a private pier in Ao Nang.

With pickup included you never have to find the pier yourself. If you plan to make your own way there, check the meeting point on your voucher, because “Ao Nang” can mean three different places.

Pickup windows

Early-bird tours collect first. The Phi Phi Early Bird & 4 Islands picks up in Ao Nang, Klong Muang and Tub Kaek between 05:50 and 06:30 and is back at the pier between 15:45 and 16:00. Standard day trips start later: the GR Rungtawan tour runs from 9:00 to 17:00 with pickup before 9:00, Oh-Hoo collects in Ao Nang between 08:00 and 09:00, and the sunset tour between 09:00 and 09:50.

The van usually loops several hotels before the pier, so be in the lobby early. Guide Kratae asks guests staying up a hill to wait at a hotel on the main road, and Sea Eagle says pickup can be by minivan or open truck. Late bookings get their time by message: Sea Eagle sends it by 07:00 on the day for bookings made after 23:00.

The Ao Nang tours to look at first

The Krabi Blue Sky tour visits Bamboo Island, Maya Bay, Pileh Lagoon, Viking Cave and Monkey Beach, then lunch on Phi Phi Don, in about 7 to 7.5 hours. Its review count is small, and one of the two low reviews describes a rushed, crowded day.

The GR Rungtawan tour costs the same $50 and has far more reviews: 4.7 from 1,887. Lunch is a buffet at Tonsai on Phi Phi Don at 12:00, with Bamboo Island after it. One low review describes riding to the pier in the back of a pickup truck with an infant, so ask about the vehicle if you are travelling with small children. Our review →

For Maya Bay early in its opening hours, the early bird costs $79, caps the boat at 30 and has 4.9 from 3,568 reviews. Our review →

On a tighter budget, Sea Eagle’s Phi Phi, Maya Bay & Bamboo Island trip was $47, with 4.4 from 3,941 reviews, more than any other Phi Phi tour from Krabi. Several reviewers counted 30 to 40 people on the boat. Our review →

The sunset tour with BBQ dinner and plankton ($74, 4.7 from 3,067) covers the Phi Phi stops during the day. The sunset, the BBQ and the plankton swim happen back near Krabi, at Ko Poda and Ko Rang, not at Phi Phi. Reviewers mention around 57 people on board. Our review →

On every tour above, the national park fee of 400 THB per adult and 200 THB per child is extra and paid in cash.

Staying in Krabi Town or Klong Muang

The boats are the same; the drive is longer. Krabi Town is about 28 km from Nopparat Thara pier by road, so plan on about 30 minutes or more in morning traffic, and an earlier pickup. Klong Muang is roughly 15 minutes from the pier and Tub Kaek farther again.

Several tours collect in those areas at no extra charge: the GR Rungtawan tour (Krabi Town, Klong Muang, Ao Nam Mao), Sea Eagle’s tours (Krabi Town, except near the airport, the bus terminal and the Old Town) and the sunset tour. Others charge. The Maya Bay, Bamboo & Phi Phi Day Tour adds THB 100 per person round trip from Krabi Town, Klong Muang or Tub Kaek, and the small-group tour costs $107 from those areas against $89 from Ao Nang.

If you are in Krabi Town and only want to reach Phi Phi Don, the Krabi to Phi Phi ferry leaves from Klong Jilad pier, a few minutes from the town hotels.
