About This Experience
This is a ride to Phi Phi Don, not a tour. Railay Eco Tour’s speedboat shuttle leaves Ao Nam Mao Pier at 10:30 and 15:00, stops at Railay to collect passengers at 11:00 and 15:30, and reaches Tonsai Pier on Phi Phi Don at about 11:40 and 16:10. Coming back, it leaves Tonsai at 12:00 and 17:00 and is in Ao Nang about 50 minutes later. These are pier-to-pier times, so add the hotel run on top.
Each ticket is one way, so a return trip means two bookings; on the dates we checked in early November 2026, both directions cost $30 per person. Hotel transfer is included within Ao Nang, and you wait in your lobby 45 minutes before the departure time. Pickup from Krabi airport, Krabi Town, Klong Muang or Tubkaek costs extra, and guests at Centara Grand or the Tonsai Beach hotels make their own way to Ao Nang beach or Railay. For the trip back from Phi Phi, check in at the Railay Eco Tour counter on Tonsai Pier.
The speedboat is quicker than the ferries: about 70 minutes from Ao Nang, against roughly two hours or more by ferry. It gives you less room, though. The listing does not state a luggage allowance, and while reviewers used it to move to Phi Phi for a few nights, luggage space on a speedboat is usually tighter than on a large ferry, so message the operator if you are travelling with more than one normal suitcase each. It is a fast and sometimes bumpy ride, and the operator does not recommend it for pregnant women, elderly travelers or anyone with back pain.
It has 4.6 stars from 210 reviews, and most reviewers say the crossing was quick and on time. The lower ratings are mostly about the road leg: drivers arriving late, one driver who could not be reached, and one report of no safety briefing on board. The 10:30 out and 17:00 back sailings also work for a self-guided day, with a little over five hours on Phi Phi Don. Maya Bay and Pileh Lagoon are on Phi Phi Leh and need a separate boat from Tonsai, so if they are why you are going, a day tour is simpler.

Very very fun speedboat trip! Driver was a little late picking us up so the whole trip was not much faster than taking a ferry, but a much more fun experience

A nice and easy trip. I messaged them as I booked the 11 am trip and needed to change it to the later time, the hosts were fine in doing this and there was no confusion upon arriving at the later time. Speed boat was clean and life jackets were provided.

Frequently Asked Questions
How long does it take to get to Phi Phi from Ao Nang by speedboat?
50 to 70 minutes pier to pier, including a stop at Railay, plus the hotel transfer. Ferries take roughly two hours or more.
What time does the Ao Nang to Phi Phi speedboat leave?
At 10:30 and 15:00 from Ao Nam Mao Pier, calling at Railay at 11:00 and 15:30. From Phi Phi it leaves Tonsai Pier at 12:00 and 17:00.
Is the ticket one way or return?
One way. Book each direction separately; both cost $30 per person on the dates we checked in early November 2026.
Can you bring luggage on the speedboat?
Reviewers have used it to move to Phi Phi for several nights, but the listing gives no luggage allowance. Message the operator if you have large bags; the Krabi Town ferry has a luggage room.
Can I use it for a day trip to Phi Phi?
Yes: out at 10:30 and back at 17:00 gives you a little over five hours on Phi Phi Don. Maya Bay and Pileh Lagoon need a separate boat from there, so a day tour is easier if those are the goal.
