About This Experience

Guide Kratae’s sunset tour is a full Phi Phi day with an evening added on. Pickup is between 09:00 and 09:50 from Ao Nang, Krabi Town, Ao Nam Mao, Klong Muang and Tubkaek, and the speedboat leaves Nopparat Thara pier in Ao Nang at 10:00. During the day you see Maya Bay, Viking Cave, Pileh Lagoon, a snorkel stop off Phi Phi Leh, lunch at Arida Restaurant on Phi Phi Don, Monkey Bay and Bamboo Island.

The sunset, BBQ dinner and plankton swim happen back near Krabi, not at Phi Phi. The boat runs about 30 minutes from Bamboo Island to Ko Poda for dinner on the beach as the sun goes down, then on to Ko Rang for about 20 minutes of night snorkeling with bioluminescent plankton before the short ride to Ao Nang. The plankton are not guaranteed; they show best on dark, calm nights with little moon.

It suits travelers who want one long day covering both the Phi Phi sights and an evening on the water, and who prefer a 9 am pickup to a 6 am one. It is rated 4.7 from 3,067 reviews and cost $74 per person on the dates we checked in early November 2026, with lunch and dinner included.

The common complaint is scale. Reviewers count around 57 people on board, getting on and off every 15 minutes, and the daytime stops fall in the busy late-morning hours. The guides get warm words even in those reviews. The tour also runs in the rain if conditions are safe, and there is no refund for that.

Add the national park fee in cash: 400 THB per adult and 200 THB per child. Fins are extra.

We had the best day out! The stops were all gorgeous, especially Maya Bay and the food for lunch and dinner was delicious. Our guide Honey made the day extra special, she was so informative and fun. We had a bit of bad weather going between islands and Honey was so reassuring and made it feel much less scary! Would definitely recommend as a day trip, well worth the money!

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you watch the sunset at Phi Phi or Maya Bay?

No. Maya Bay closes at about 6 pm, around sunset time. The sunset and BBQ dinner are on Ko Poda, about 30 minutes from Bamboo Island and close to Krabi.

Is the plankton guaranteed?

No. Bioluminescent plankton are natural and vary night to night. They show best on dark, calm nights with little moonlight, so a full-moon date lowers the odds.

What time do you get back to Ao Nang?

The listing gives about 9.5 hours from a 10:00 departure. Dinner is timed for sunset, which is around 18:00 to 18:35 between November and February, and the plankton swim comes after it, so expect to be back after dark.

Is the national park fee included?

No. Bring 400 THB per adult and 200 THB per child in cash.

Can I join from Railay Beach?

No. This tour does not pick up from Railay or Tonsai. Railay guests need a tour that calls at Railay East floating pier.
